Hours: Administrators and Supervisors are expected to devote the necessary time and effort required to properly complete their assigned responsibilities. It is understood that such time and effort may exceed the limits of normal working hours.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid NYS administrative certificate (SDA/SDL) or be eligible for the same
- Must possess an understanding of NYSED Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities
- Must demonstrate expertise in Part 200 Regulations and development of quality compliant IEPs
- Must possess an understanding of related service area programs and staff
- Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Must possess a broad background of educational experience in the area(s) of administration, supervision, teaching, and/or curriculum development
- Experience as a building or district administrator preferred
Description:
Supports the Director of Pupil Personnel Services by providing administrative and technical assistance for the overall pupil services program in the District including: (1) planning and implementation of the Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities; and (2) oversight of behavioral and academic support programs for all students. Responsible for displaying the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel and agencies associated with the District/School.
Support schools with providing multi-tiered systems of behavioral and academic support.
- Responsible for the oversight of the related service programs and related and providers;
- Responsible for the support and/or oversight of Special Education, RtI, and Section 504 at the building level;
- Responsible for the oversight of student outcome data, which would include the collection, analysis, and plan to organize, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of school-wide programs and instruction for students;
- Responsible for the development and supervision of the behavior management program;
- Assist with ensuring program positions are appropriately staffed.
- Support schools with engaging students in self-advocacy and involvement in determining their own educational goals and plans.
- Responsible for development of districtwide plans to increase student and family participation in CSE meetings and IEP development and evaluating the outcomes;
- Responsible for the development of districtwide plans to increase students’ involvement in their academic and/or social emotional goal setting and evaluating the outcomes.
- Support schools with designing, and assessing the effectiveness of specially-designed instruction, to provide access for students with disabilities to participate and progress in the general education curriculum.
- Collect and analyze the District/School disproportionality data, suspension relates, and classification rates to develop an action plan for improvement complete with evaluating the outcomes.
- Support building teams with the implementation of Specially Designed Instruction and Quality IEP Development
- Provide on-going professional development in research based instructional teaching learning strategies and supports for students with disabilities, related services or other school based supports
Design and conduct professional development and support schools in providing explicit instruction in academic and social emotional learning;
Assist building teams in the process of continually assessing students’ understanding and mastery of standards to improve and target instruction aligned with student needs.
- Support schools with the development and delivery of high-quality inclusive programs and activities.
- Oversight of implementation of District policies, regulations, procedures, timelines, and protocols;
- Collect and analyze performance data to evaluate program effectiveness;
- Develop reports and corrective action plans and proposals to improve programs and services;
- Assist with ensuring program positions are appropriately staffed.
- Support schools to provide appropriate instruction for students with disabilities in career development and opportunities to participate in work-based learning.
- Collaboration with the Coordinator of College, Career and Student Achievement to identify and appropriately implement resources for family services, school activities, community services, transition planning, post-secondary education, and employment opportunities;
- Assisting schools with increasing student engagement in career planning and selection of courses of study to prepare them for post-secondary living, working and learning, complete with evaluating the outcomes.
- Support schools in developing the capacity to engage parents and other family members as meaningful partners in the special education process and the education of their child.
- Facilitate the Full Committee on Special Education and select Subcommittee on Special Education meetings identified as having special circumstances, by Director of PPS in collaboration with building administrators;
- Represent the District, when requested, in mediation, administrative hearings and court proceedings relating to special education, related services, student behavior, etc.
- Other duties as assigned including attendance at administrative meetings and Board of Education meetings as requested.
