The Upward Bound Programs at Morehead State University are accepting applications for a full-time Associate  Director position, for the Upward Bound Math Science (North) grant. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director for the Upward Bound Math Science (North) is responsible for the  day-to-day administration, management, implementation and supervision of all program services and activities  associated with Upward Bound Math Science (North) grant. The incumbent provides counseling and academic  support services to program participants to increase the secondary graduation and the post-secondary enrollment  and graduation rates. He/she coordinates academic year curriculum (web and classroom), tutoring services,  enrichment sessions, and cultural experiences for students with a focus on STEM activities (science, math, and  engineering). Designs, evaluates, and teaches appropriate curriculum for academic year return trips and the  six-week summer residential academy. Hires, trains, and supervises summer instructors and residence hall staff.  Collaborates all services with local school districts with high school administrators. Day and overnight travel with  students required. Occasional night and weekend hours. 

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in education, guidance/counseling, social work, curriculum design/ evaluation, mathematics, science, social science, and/or related field and two years’ experience as a counselor,  teacher, program coordinator. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Proven ability to  provide services to high school students and proven supervisory skills. Clear evidence of strong planning and  organizational abilities, as well as analytical reasoning skills. Ability to adhere to a flexible schedule. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in working with economically and educationally  disadvantaged secondary students and designing curriculum for those students is desired. Prior experience  with mental health intervention, child abuse and neglect identification and reporting procedures. Knowledge of  computerized database software, admissions and financial aid process is desired. Supervisory experience is  preferred.
