The Coordinator for Reference/Access Services reports to the Dean of Library Services. The Coordinator performs varied complex and specialized tasks requiring advanced skills gained through progressive library experience. The Coordinator is expected to have a deep understanding of professional library principles, methods, materials, practices in an automated library environment as well as administrative and managerial techniques and resources, and understand and interpret policies related to library or archival programs. Knowledge of library materials in several broad subject areas as well as standard automated and non-automated reference sources is necessary to perform well as the Coordinator. The Coordinator frequently works with students, faculty, and the public. In all cases the Coordinator must maintain a professional working relationship and maintain confidentiality when required. The Coordinator must be willing to work evening hours and perform other duties as required. Bachelor’s degree in a related area is required. Masters in library science from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred. Minimum of two to four years of experience in jobs leading to this or similar position. Position is security sensitive and subject to Texas education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
