(Part-Time)

JOB SUMMARY

The Driver provides transportation and delivery support to the administrative and program functions of Hope Ministries and its subsidiaries, in accordance with the intent and directives found in its Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Statement of Faith and Mission Statement. The Driver (Part-Time) is accountable to, and reports to, the Director of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance with all other staff members of Hope Ministries and its subsidiaries.
  • Provide safe and timely transportation for those served by Hope Ministries at its various facilities. Ensure a safe environment within vehicles for adults, children, and cargo. Preserve safety by operating an internal “dashcam” monitoring device whenever a passenger is present in the vehicle.
  • As required, transport other items (food, supplies, etc.) to and from Hope Ministries’ facilities in a safe and timely manner.
  • Perform daily visual inspections of the Hope Ministries vehicles before operation, and report maintenance needs immediately to Administration.
  • Provide excellent customer service to those Hope Ministries serves, and to donors and suppliers who provide items to Hope Ministries (food, supplies, etc.)
  • Load and unload cargo, with or without assistance.
  • Participate in the spiritual growth and Christian instruction of those who Hope Ministries serves. This can include (but is not restricted to) personal mentoring, the sharing of Scripture and Biblical encouragement, and praying with program participants. This may be in a structured setting (i.e., a classroom or chapel), or unstructured, with individual clients as the need arises.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or his designee.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Spiritual Qualifications:  Must have a lifestyle that demonstrates moral and ethical adherence to the teachings of the Bible and an expressed desire to minister to those who are poor, needy, and homeless.
  • Education:  High school degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Driving Requirements: Must meet Hope Ministries’ approved driver standards in terms of traffic offenses and at-fault accidents.    
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Reports to:  Keith Isley, Director of Operations

Work Schedule:  20-24 hours per week: Monday-Thursday, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., with possible additional morning or afternoon hours as mutually agreed upon.
