Fenimore Farm Historical Interpreters • Seasonal, Part-time (up to 1,000 hours/year) Fenimore Farm is seeking history-minded, outgoing individuals to work as Historical Interpreters in our mid-19th century country village, including our farmhouse and carousel. Our historic farmhouse position involves demonstrating and discussing the historic methods used to prepare meals over an open hearth, baking in a brick oven and processing milk into butter or cheese. The position also requires discussing various aspects of farm-life in a rural NYS village. If the thought of helping to bring history to life and learning crafts and trades of the past is exciting, this opportunity is for you. The education team is also seeking a Broom Maker who can demonstrate and discuss the process of historic broom production. Additionally, we are looking for friendly, engaging people who enjoy working with children, for our restored hand-carved Empire State Carousel. An interest in or aptitude for handcraft is helpful but not required for all positions. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and be comfortable speaking in a one-on-one or group setting. We are seeking team players who can engage enthusiastically with the public. All training will be provided. Positions are seasonal (April-October), with employment up to 5 days per week. Qualified candidates should be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends. Fenimore Farm & Country Village is an equal opportunity employer.
