TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: • 180 day contract • Board of Education approved school calendar

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Licensure and highly qualified status as required or determined by ISBE

SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • To instruct students in learning appropriate grade level outcomes while considering unique needs of individual children
  • To follow District 86 and building policies, procedures and regulations, and attendance standards
  • To implement the district’s philosophy of educational and instructional goals and objectives

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meets requirements called for in the current negotiated agreement.
  2. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students which includes assignments, grading, and instructional modifications.
  3. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor. East Peoria Elementary School District 86 2.02 6-8 Classroom Teacher
  5. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and consistent with these goals – establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
  6. Correlates individual instructional objectives with the philosophy, goals and objectives stated for the District.
  7. Where applicable, plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  8. Recognizes student strengths and weaknesses to accommodate the least restrictive environment or any other special needs for students with the help of appropriate district staff.
  9. Employs instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the students.
  10. Assesses the accomplishments, both formally and informally, of students on a regular basis and provides program reports as required.
  11. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  12. Establishes and maintains standards of classroom behavior and assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct. Motivates students to set and maintain acceptable standards of behavior and employs appropriate behavioral strategies.
  13. Devote a minimum of 3% of the normal work-day to ensuring that all reasonable and necessary precautions are taken to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  14. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues, concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all students.
  15. Actively participates in professional development activities as deemed appropriate by school district.
  16. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  17. Supervises students in all areas of the school building and on school grounds.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration.
