Description
Picks up and delivers a wide range of Items, including sensitive materials, confidential documents, mail and deposits to various CCC&TI campuses. Performs maintenance and custodial duties as required by supervisor.

Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
Drives, loads and unloads college vehicle providing efficient delivery and pick-up of packages, mail, deposits in a professional manner.
Maintains security and confidentiality of materials being transported.
Ensures vehicles are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Forwards college vehicle reports and maintenance records to Administrative Assistant, Facility Services.
Assists in clearing snow and ice; assists with building set-up requests and facility maintenance and repairs.
Unlocks all classrooms and buildings on the Caldwell campus.
Marginal Functions:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participates in professional development activities and required employee training.
This position description covers the most essential functions and duties associated with this position. The President or appropriate supervisory personnel may assign additional duties. Qualifications and Working Conditions
Knowledge of:
Basic principles and practices of plumbing.
Basic principles and techniques of heating and ventilation unit repairs.
Principles and procedures in working with electricity.
Methods of operation of a variety of hand and power tools including saws, hammers, routers, drills and paint sprayers.
Safe work practices.
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.
Basic principles and procedures of record keeping.
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Basic mathematical principles.
Ability to:
Operate a motor vehicle.
Perform a variety of building and grounds maintenance duties including painting, plumbing, mowing and other related duties.
Perform mathematical calculations in order to obtain appropriate area estimations.
Repair and maintain various heating systems.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tools.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws, and regulations.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Follow all safety rules and regulations of the college.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
The employee should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve: indoor and outdoor spaces; exposure to fumes, dust and dirt; possible electrical hazards; extremely loud noises; may be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials; and inclement weather.
The employee must preserve environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, driving, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; lifting and carrying heavy materials; straight pulling; reaching above shoulders; general manual dexterity; operating assigned equipment; and repeated bending, crawling and kneeling during assigned activities.
General manual dexterity; operating motorized equipment and vehicles; ability to distinguish color; climbing with both legs and arms; lifting up to 50 to 70 lbs; able to operate a variety of equipment including mechanic tools, carpentry tools, electrical tools, plumbing tools, etc.
Scheduling Conditions:
This is a full-time, 12-month position, which requires the employee to be on campus or at an approved alternate location for at least thirty-six hours per week,. Availability for work on any Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute site (or arranged off-campus site) is required.
Traveling Conditions:
Local travel between the Caldwell campus, Watauga campus, or any off-campus sites may be needed. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for training and conferences.
